Rail Safety Campus - Research, Innovation & Training

The Rail Safety Campus offers all railway professionals a platform for exchanging knowledge on safety -related topics. With a wide range of training programs, the Rail Safety Campus supports both newcomers and experienced professionals in expanding their knowledge of safety-related railway technology.

Bachelor’s and Master’s Theses

InterEngineer sees itself as a training partner for the railway industry. In line with this mission, the Rail Safety Campus supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses at the interface between academia and practical application. Students gain insight into real railway engineering projects, safety standards (e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129), and state-of-the-art analysis tools.
This results in final theses with direct practical relevance — and often marks the starting point for a career in safety engineering.

Research Projects

The Rail Safety Campus is deeply involved in research projects with universities such as HAW Hamburg, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, and FH Aachen. Together, we work on innovations in railway safety, addressing topics such as the interpretation of standards, safety methods, risk analyses, and simulation-based verification techniques.
Through close collaboration, we foster scientific exchange, enable practice-oriented research projects, and drive the advancement of safety-critical solutions. The results feed directly into our training programs and strengthen knowledge transfer between academia and industry.

Product and Component Training

In our product and component training courses, we provide hands-on knowledge about safety-relevant systems and components used in railway operations. We combine theoretical foundations (e.g., safety standards, risk analyses, interfaces) with practical examples drawn from real-world projects.

ETCS Interface Development

The development of standards-compliant ETCS interfaces is a central focus of our campus. In specialized workshops and technical training courses, we teach the fundamentals, system architectures, and safety requirements of the European Train Control System.

Innovation Lab

Our Innovation Lab is currently under development — a place where ideas can grow and the railway technology of the future takes shape. Here, we combine expertise, creativity, and state-of-the-art methods to explore new approaches in functional safety. Soon, together with experts, students, and partners, we will develop fresh impulses for a safer and more efficient railway world.
